Seeing the interest after World War II in housing in Florida, and recognizing that the timing was right for mobile home living in sunny St. Petersburg, Fred Wilder, a Navy “Seabee” in WWII, designed, laid out and supervised the building of Highland Mobile Park in the late 1950s. Fred and his wife Marguerite managed the park for more than 45 years, before handing the day-to-day management to their son, Fritz.
